Who are we?
We are the Port Moody Secondary School Robotics Club (PMR for short), a passionate group of student innovators competing in the First Tech Challenge (FTC), an international robotics competition that inspires students to pursue STEM through hands-on experience through a season of designing, programming, and building a robot to perform specific functions.
Our club has been participating in FIRST Robotics competitions for 7 years, starting with FRC (FIRST Robotics Competition), then switching to FTC. The Port Moody Secondary Robotics Club has seen continuous increases in our member count every year. In the club, members are able to grow and think creatively to build, code, and use computer assisted design. Our club provides a competitive yet nurturing environment, fostering creativity and intuitive thinking.

PMR members do outreach programs, visiting middle and elementary schools, to introduce kids to STEM and Robotics and inspiring them to learn more. Additionally, we run “learn to code” events throughout the community, engaging children in the fundamental concepts of STEM. We hope to continue to provide this STEM experience, for people of all ages, for years to come!
Awards
In the 2024-2025 FTC season, PMR received 3 awards.
At L.A Matheson Qualifier 1, the PMR teams received an award for for “Innovate”.
At L.A Matheson Qualifier 2, the PMR teams received awards for “Control” and “Design”.
These awards demonstrate the creative and critical thinking used when building, coding, designing, and operating the robots.
